Over the last 20 years I have worked with children and teenagers as a Teaching Assistant/Learning Mentor in primary, secondary school and college. The last 10 years I have written and delivered social communication courses and well-being courses. I have noticed that many students are suffering from stress, anxiety, depressive feelings and low-self esteem. During my studies of Yoga Therapy, I specifically written and delivered interventions on anxiety and exam-stress. I feel that teaching young people regulatory skills empowers them in dealing with being a teenager, the pressures they are facing (school/peers/social media. Yoga Therapy is a very powerful tool for this age group and we don't even have to get into a downward dog! I certainly could have benefited learning these regulatory skills when I was young and I would have dealt with my anxiety a lot better into my adult life.

I offer 1-1 sessions specifically designed for young people. I recommend 6 sessions of 1 hour maximum and the first intake session is slightly longer. They will learn tools to regulate themselves when they feel stressed, anxious but are able to use them in any situation, even before an exam.

Cost:
Each session will cost £ 40.00. I recommend a course of 6 session and this will cost £ 200 if paid in advance.
Each session will be followed up with a home practice plan for you to work on until the next session.

Sessions can be in person, online using Zoom (this will be in a living room or a room with open access for parents) or at your home (but any cost may be added for travel).

Concessions are available according to need. I strongly believe that mental health in young people is currently at crisis point (I have seen this in the last few years through my work at school and college) and therefore I will put the well being of the young person first. If finance is a problem, please do not hesitate to contact me and we come to an arrangement.

Please note that I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate, which gets updated yearly. This certificate also allows me to work at schools and colleges.

During my case studies in my training, I started working with two clients who were on an addiction recovery program. I enjoyed working with them guiding them into their body. My approach of working with the body suits the programme that people in recovery follow such as the 12-step programme.

I did some extra training with Shaura Hall of The Yogologist 'Yoga Therapy & Mindfulness for Addictions in February 2024, which will give me the skills to work from a complete mind-body perspective with people in addiction recovery.

I will be able to offer sessions privately, in groups or clinics.
From autumn 2024, I will start to offer 6-8 week group classes for certain health conditions. Here are some ideas of groups that I am thinking of holding. If you are interested in therapeutic group yoga, group size max 8 people, please contact me.

Yoga for stress and anxiety
This class for adults who suffer from anxiety. This course will be a 6 week course where I will teach about anxiety, how to regulate yourself, breathing and relaxation techniques.

Yoga for back issues
This class is for those with low back pain, recovering from back conditions and we will be working on gentle practices to improve back mobility together with breath practices.
Please note that acute back problems should be seen by a GP and this class is not suitable. Research shows that yoga can significantly improve pain in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and low back pain.

Yoga for chronic pain
This class is for anyone who suffers from chronic pain (pain that may be unexplained and long-term of more than 12 weeks that persists beyond expected healing time). Yoga Therapy can be be useful in the management of chronic pain as and offers benefits as:
-
may provide relief of musculoskeletal pain
-
movement will often reduce tension and may help the body to start healing
-
enhances physical strength, helping to adjust self-perception, increase self confidence & self-efficacy.
-
yoga promotes parasympathetic activation, reducing stress factors.
-
promotes self-care.

Please email if you are interested in joining in any of the above group.
